In the article entitled "Bright Future of Egyptian-Ukrainian Relations", Ambassador Yevhen Mykytenko told the readers of the newspaper that:
- Ukraine considers Egypt a gateway to the African continent
- Political talks at the level of Deputy Foreign Ministers of both countries will soon take place in Cairo; and the 8th meeting of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation between Ukraine and the Arab Republic of Egypt is expected to meet in April.
- Political dialogue is witnessing intensification at all levels, which gives reason to expect Egyptian Foreign Minister’s visit to Kyiv this year as well as to approach the exchange of visits at the highest level, given that both Presidents sent official invitations to each other.
- Egypt remains Ukraine's largest trading partner in Africa and the Middle East. Despite the pandemic, the volume of trade between the countries in 2020 reached 1.8 billion US dollars.
- This year, Ukrainian and Egyptian partners expect this indicator to reach the level of 2019 ($ 2.6 billion) – at least – which is why they plan to discuss the strengthening of economic cooperation and new investment projects within the Ukrainian-Egyptian business forum in Cairo in April this year.
- In 2020, 727 thousand Ukrainian tourists visited Egypt – the highest figure among all foreign countries.
- Ukrainian investments in the Egyptian economy exceed $ 500 million US dollars; in particular, National Company "Naftogaz of Ukraine" is implementing its largest project abroad demonstrating potential to grow bigger.
