Meeting with H.E. Hisham Badr, Assistant Foreign Minister of Egypt for International Institutions and Organizations

On December 3, 2012, H.E. Yevhen Kyrylenko, Ambassadorof Ukraine to Egypt, held a meeting with H.E. Hisham Badr, Assistant ForeignMinister of Egypt for InternationalInstitutions and Organizations.
During the meeting the sides discussed positions of Ukraine and Egypt on reform of the UN Security Council.
The sides also discussed topical regional issues, among them, vote of the UN General Assembly for Palestinian non-member statehood. The Ukrainian Ambassador underlined that Ukraine maintains high level of relations with Palestine: Ukraine recognized Palestine in 2001; since that year, Palestinian Embassy has been operating in Kyiv. At the same time, taking into consideration the discord among delegations in the UN, Ukraine doesn’t consider the resolution as a contribution to the Middle East peace process.
