Over fifty representatives of Ukrainian community in Egypt and their families, diplomats from the Embassy of Ukraine on February 24, on the eve of 147th anniversary from the birthday of a prominent Ukrainian writer and poetess Lesya Ukrainka, who visited Egypt three times at the beginning of the last century for treatment and wrote here her famous poems, put flowers to her bronze plaque in Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
The youngest representatives of Ukrainian community, who were born in Egypt, recited poems written by Lesya Ukrainka, all the participants of the event were active in answering quiz questions about the life and creative activity of “a single man among Ukrainian writers” as Ivan Franko called the prominent poetess.
