Representatives of the Ministry of Culture of Egypt, Great Cairo Library, TV channels, printed and electronic media, cultural institutions and universities on November 6 participated in a presentation of the first ever collected poetry and letters written by outstanding Ukrainian writer and poetess Lesya Ukrainka (1871-1913) and translated into Arabic language. The event was organized by the Embassy of Ukraine.
Mr. Hennadii Latii, Ambassador of Ukraine and translators of Lesya Ukrainka’s poetry - Olena Khomitska (Ukraine), Head of the Egyptian Center for Arabic Language and Culture at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and Dr. Samir Mundy (Egypt) informed the audience about Lesya Ukrainka and her life-inspiring poetry, their joint work on the book, answered journalists’ questions.
The Embassy of Ukraine and translators handed over ten books to Great Cairo Library.
All the participants of the event also received collection of Lesya Ukrainka’s poetry with autographs of Ukrainian and Egyptian translators.
