On May 9-10, 2012, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Arab Republic of Egypt Yevhen Kyrylenko took part in the Ministerial Meeting of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement, which was held in Sharm el Sheikh.

Representatives of 120 countries participated in the meeting. The participants focused on measures to stimulate economic development, resolve regional conflicts, and secure non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

Holding this meeting brings to an end Egypt's chairmanship of the Movement. Next August the Movement's summit will be held in Tehran as Iran will take over the chairmanship of the Movement for another three years.

Since 1996 Ukraine has enjoyed an observer status with the Non-Aligned Movement.
