On April 15 Ambassador of Ukraine Yevhen Mykytenko held a meeting with the Assistant Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt Ihab Naser, during which the sides discussed participation of Ukrainian and Egyptian delegations (the latter was headed by the Foreign Minister of Egypt Ahmed Aboul Gheit) in Nuclear Security Summit, held in Washington on April 12 – 13 this year.
The sides discussed also the possibility of holding the 6th meeting of the Intergovernmental Ukraine-Egypt Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation in November this year in Cairo, and the possible visit of Prime-minister of Ukraine to Egypt.
The parties finalized the draft agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt on visa exemption for citizens holding diplomatic, service or special passports.
Upon Ambassador’s request Ihab Naser reassured that Egyptian authorities will facilitate crossing the border by Ukrainian citizens (approximately 300 people) who plan to leave Gaza Strip in May this year. It will take place via Rafah checkpoint at Egypt-Palestine border.
