Celebrating Ukraine’s Independence Day: Egyptian television interviewed Ambassador Yevhen Mykytenko

In the 30-minutes long interview, recorded at the Embassy’s Premises in Cairo, Yevhen Mykytenko talked about the long-standing partnership between the two countries and peoples, and shared his vision of promising areas of cooperation and interaction on various levels.

The conversation touched upon a variety of topics, from information technology and space to common interpersonal relationships. The Ambassador told the touching story of the 9-year-old Egyptian athlete Lina Heleyka, who due to the pandemic, had become stranded in Kyiv without her parents, where she lived for more than three months with the National team of Ukraine in rhythmic gymnastics.

Egyptian TV audience had the opportunity to get to know interesting facts about Ukraine, its culture, history and present, and saw some nice footage from different cities and picturesque parts of Ukraine.

For reference: The total volume of trade in goods and services between Ukraine and Egypt in 2019 was 2.631 billion USD, in the first quarter of 2020. In the first 5 months of the current year, this figure has already exceeded 1 billion USD.

In 2019, 1.49 million Ukrainian tourists visited Egypt. According to this indicator, Ukraine comes second after Germany.
