Families of Ukrainians who are living in Egypt on a permanent or a temporary basis, employees of the Embassy of Ukraine and Ukrainian companies  on October 27 joined international remembrance event “Let’s light up memorial candle”.

In their speeches and reminiscences participants attracted attention to extremely sad consequences caused by one of the greatest tragedies of the last century, called on all those present to retain a memory about this tragedy in order to avoid its repeating in the future.

Children and adults payed tribute to the memory of 85 children from the list of millions of people who died of starvation furnished by Stalinist regime, recited poems of Ukrainian authors and reminiscences of Holodomor witnesses, acquainted themselves with a photo-exhibition “Holodomor of 1932-1933 – genocide of Ukrainian people” provided by Ukrainian Institute of  National Remembrance.
